Stefan van Achterbergh presents Big Dutchman’s after-sales commitment — “You’ll Never Walk Alone” — to an engaged audience of Zimbabwean swine producers.
On 29 May 2026, Big Dutchman South Africa’s Stefan van Achterbergh addressed pig producers and industry stakeholders at the inaugural Zimbabwe Swine Day & Carcass Grading, held at Surrey Braai in Marondera. Organised by Trouw Nutrition South Africa, the event brought together producers, nutritionists, and agribusiness professionals from across Zimbabwe.
Occupying the opening technical slot, Stefan walked attendees through Big Dutchman’s complete swine housing solutions — from gestation and farrowing through to nursery and finishing — before opening the floor to discussion on equipment selection for the local market.
A full production cycle, one presentation
Stefan covered housing design for each phase of production. A particular focus was the nursery stage, where piglets typically remain for 6–7 weeks post-farrowing. Big Dutchman offers both naturally ventilated (NV) and Environmentally Controlled (EC) house options, giving Zimbabwean producers flexibility to match their farm scale and capital budget.
The venue at Surrey Braai, Marondera, set up ahead of the day’s programme.
The event drew a strong turnout of commercial producers and was rounded out by Trouw Nutrition SA on water sanitation and gut health, the Pig Industry Board (PIB) on swine management, and Surrey Group with a full hour on carcass quality and grading.
The Gestation House — one of several production phases covered in Stefan’s presentation.
A full house of producers follow along as Stefan covers nursery housing options.
Big Dutchman South Africa thanks Trouw Nutrition SA for the invitation and looks forward to continuing to support the growth of Zimbabwe’s commercial swine sector.
